    • Marvel Studios has confirmed that Spider-Man 3 won't be the last in the series.

"There will be many more Spider-Man films to come," Marvel Studios' Producer Kevin Feige told MTV. "We already have stacks of ideas for the next one because of the wealth of stories in the comics. We could be making Spider-Man movies for the next 20 years, based on the 50 years of Spider-Man history we have."

In July, Tobey Maguire gave comic book fanboys a conniption when he told USA Today that he didn't believe a Spider-Man 4 was in the cards.

"We've done an amazing job at keeping things fresh," Maguire told USA Today. "But, it's hard to imagine continuously coming up with stories that deserve to be told. I'm not sure if there are more stories for this character that are interesting enough to be excited about doing more."

Feige can't guarantee that Maguire would return for a fourth film.

"When you're concentrating on one movie at a time, there's a beginning and a middle and an end to that process," Feige reasoned. "We've been topping each one as they go, [and if that happens again], that's the time for those discussions."

It's good to hear from a Marvel representative that the company is commited to making more Spider-Man movies (as long as there is a market for them) with or without Maguire.

    • Maguire to get $50 million and 'father time' for Spidey sequel

16 September 2008 2:59 PM, PDT | From The Hollywood News

Tobey Maguire is said to be earning a whopping $50 million for the next two films in the Spider-man franchise. The films, numbers 4 and 5 in the movie series based on the popular comic-book hero, will also see Maguire allocated 'Father Time', which basically gets him early mornings and evenings off, to spend time with his 22-month-old daughter.

According to Times Online, we'll learn in the next few days as to whether Kirsten Dunst will return to the role of Mary-Jane Watson.

Spider-man 4 and Spider-man 5 will be shot back-to-back. The first three film's director Sam Raimi is also expected to return to helm the upcoming movies, set up at Hollywood studio Sony.

    • I'm thinking of a storyline....

In Spidey III, Doc Connors kept a small sample of the Venom symbiote.

Maybe in Spidey IV, he does more research on the sample, combines part of it with lizard DNA and turns himself into the Lizard?

Then in Spidey V, the remaining Venom symbiote escapes and bonds with serial killer Cletus Kasady to become Carnage?

That said, as Tobey Maguire has said, it's hard to keep the franchise fresh. This is especially since both Norman and Harry Osborn are already dead.
